What does discounted second-grade corrugated sheet mean?
During corrugated sheet production, profiled sheets are made from steel coil at high speed. The process is extremely precise, but as with all industrial manufacturing, minor deviations can occur. When a sheet does not meet the top, first-grade quality requirements - but is structurally perfectly sound and usable - it falls into the second-grade, or discounted, category.
What defects can it have?
Discounted sheets have cosmetic defects that affect appearance only. The most common such defects are:
Scratch: Surface scratches from production, storage or transport. These can be barely visible hairline scratches or slightly more noticeable marks. The scratch affects the paint layer; the steel core beneath remains intact - the galvanised protective layer continues to protect the metal from corrosion.
Slight colour variation: A sheet's shade may differ minimally from the catalogue colour. This comes from tiny differences during paint application. On its own, once installed, it's almost unnoticeable - most noticeable only when placed next to a first-grade sheet.
Small dent: A small dent or indentation can occur at the edge of the coil or during profiling. It is visible on the sheet's surface, but does not affect load capacity or water-tightness. Once installed, in most cases it is not noticeable, especially if the sheet is used out of direct sight.
Patchy galvanising: On natural galvanised sheets, the zinc layer thickness or evenness may differ slightly from the standard. This can cause a patchy or matte appearance visually, but the protective function still works - zinc protects the steel from oxidation just the same.
What can the discounted sheet be used for?
Suitable for any use where appearance is not the primary concern. The most common areas of use:
Fence building: Especially ideal for the neighbour-facing side or rear-garden fence sections. On the inside of the fence, minor cosmetic defects are practically invisible, while the sheet protects the plot just the same and is just as durable as the first-grade version.
Outbuildings: Shed, garage, tool storage, summer kitchen, firewood store - these buildings typically don't require a representative appearance. Discounted sheet provides the same protection from weather as its more expensive counterpart.
Hidden roof surfaces: If part of the roof is not visible from the street or garden - for example a lower wing, rear building section or flatter pitch - discounted sheet is an excellent choice. From above, minor surface defects disappear completely.
Agricultural buildings: Stables, barns, stores, dryers - here function is primary. Discounted sheet delivers exactly the same mechanical protection and lifespan, at a significantly lower price.
Why choose discounted sheet?
Price is the most obvious argument: the per-m² price of discounted sheet is significantly lower than the first-grade one. On a larger project - for example 50-100 m² of fence or outbuilding cover - this can mean savings of tens of thousands of Ft. Meanwhile the sheet's structural properties are identical: same thickness, same profile depth, same steel quality. What is not perfect aesthetically is technically flawless.
Note that the availability of discounted sheets depends on stock. Since these arise as by-products of production, not every colour and size is continuously available. After you submit an enquiry, our team will call you and confirm the options available at that moment - in terms of colour, size and quantity.
Frequently asked questions
What is discounted second-grade corrugated sheet?
A sheet that received a cosmetic defect during production: scratch, slight colour variation, minor dent, patchy galvanising. Available at a discount for fences, outbuildings and hidden surfaces.
What is the discounted sheet recommended for?
Fences, outbuildings, sheds, garages, storage - any use where a minor cosmetic defect isn't disturbing. The neighbour-facing fence side, hidden roof surfaces.
Can I choose a colour?
You can mark your preferred colour, but actual availability depends on stock. Our team will call you after the enquiry and confirm which colour and size we can offer.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping cost is the same as for first-grade sheets. You can choose economy (3-5 working days) or express (1-2 working days) shipping.
Is there a cost for the enquiry?
None. Submitting the enquiry is completely free and without obligation. We call you and confirm what we can offer.
Can I order screws separately?
Yes! On the screw product page you can order the quantity you want directly. We also offer screws when ordering sheet.
