The black corrugated sheet - a bold but effective choice

The black corrugated sheet is the most striking item in our range. There is no compromise in it - if you put black on the house, it speaks from a distance. It looks fantastic on modern, simple, rectangular buildings. More and more people are choosing it, because the result really is stunning.

But it is important to be clear: a black sheet is not the best decision in every situation. It is hotter than the other colours, and there are places where the building regulations do not allow it. We will go through everything so that you can decide with confidence.

Who do we recommend it to?

  • You are building a modern, rectangular house where black fits the overall look
  • You are planning a workshop, warehouse or commercial building where a bold appearance matters
  • You are creating a container home or a modular building
  • You want the strongest possible visual impact and are ready for the attention it requires

Black or anthracite - which one to choose?

How do they look?

Anthracite is an elegant dark grey - restrained, looks good in any situation. Black is much more dramatic: in overcast weather it almost "dissolves" into the surroundings, while in sunshine it radiates intensely.

How hot do they get?

Black gets considerably hotter in summer than anthracite. On a hot day the surface temperature can be 10-15 °C higher. That is why a black roof needs stronger insulation and ventilation.

How do they age?

Anthracite is more forgiving - signs of time show less on it. On a black surface every small change is more obvious. In return, the base colour of black is very durable.

Our advice

If you are unsure, choose anthracite. The vast majority of our customers are just as happy with it - similar effect, less to watch out for. We recommend black to those who know they want exactly this.

What you need to know about the black sheet

It heats up more in summer

Black absorbs nearly all the sunlight, so in summer the surface can reach 80-90 °C. That is considerably more than on a light-coloured sheet.

If you are building a loft conversion beneath it, plan for thick insulation (at least 20-25 cm) and a ventilation gap below the sheet. This is not just a recommendation - for a black sheet it is essential, otherwise the attic becomes unbearable in summer.

The colour is very durable

Black itself is an exceptionally stable colour - it barely changes even over 15-20 years. Over time, though, a faint greyish film (which we call chalking) can appear on the surface; this shows up more on a dark base. A thorough wash removes it easily - nothing to worry about.

Rust protection

Just as rust-protected as any of our other colours. It actually has one hidden advantage: small scratches are easier to spot on a black surface, so you can repair them in time before anything more serious develops.

Which colours should you pair black with?

Black + white - strong contrast

The most dramatic pairing. Particularly striking on simple, rectangular buildings. Many people choose this combination for modern garages and workshops - the result is always elegant and clean.

Black + wood - natural elegance

If you combine the black sheet with timber elements - on the façade or on a fence - you get a very attractive, warm effect. The black backdrop brings out the beauty of the wood. Increasingly popular on family homes.

Black + black - total unity

If the whole building goes black, the presence is very strong. Fantastic on simple-shaped buildings, but on more complex houses it can feel too dark. In that case it is worth balancing it with lighter elements in the surroundings - a pale path, green planting, timber details.

Accessories

Black flashing, gutter and window frames are all available. The range is narrower than for anthracite, so it is worth giving us notice to make sure it is in stock.

Building regulations - check first

A black roof is one of the most frequently restricted colours in Hungary. In protected areas, historic town centres and around Lake Balaton, it is typically not allowed.

Important: Before ordering, be sure to check with the local council or chief architect whether a black roof is permitted on the given plot. It is a quick phone call, but it can spare you a lot of hassle. Do not leave it until after the order has been placed!

Installation notes for the black sheet

The sheet expands in summer, contracts in winter

Due to the large temperature swing, the black sheet moves more than the lighter colours. A 6-metre panel can shift 7-8 mm. Above 5 metres, oval screw holes are required. Do not overtighten the screws - leave the sheet room to move.

Cleaning and care

Scratches show up less than on light colours - an advantage. But dust, pollen and bird droppings stand out as pale patches. The sheet is extremely hot in summer - always work in gloves! Pull the protective film off only just before fixing.

How does the black corrugated sheet age?

0-8 years

Practically unchanged. It looks as though you put it up yesterday.

8-12 years

A faint greyish veil may appear on the surface. It disappears after rain or a wash. This is a normal process, no reason for alarm.

15-20 years

The black tone may soften minimally. If you replace a panel later, a visible difference between old and new is possible. That is why it is worth ordering a few spare panels at the time of purchase.

Black touch-up paint is available, but it is worth knowing that repaired spots may show up more on a dark surface than they would on lighter colours.
