Orange corrugated sheet - whoever wants to stand out chooses this

RAL 2000 orange is the boldest colour in our range - and we will not sugar-coat it. It is not "some nice, restrained roof colour". Orange is a statement: decisive, energetic, unmistakable. Whoever puts orange on their building wants to be noticed. And at that, orange is unbeatable.

One thing to know: RAL 2000 is not the light orange of the fruit. It is a deeper, more serious shade on a slightly brownish base - somewhere between classic orange and rust. It glows in sunshine and is more restrained under overcast skies. Not neon, not garish - more confident and decisive.

Who do we recommend it to?

  • You are building a commercial property where standing out from a distance matters - car wash, workshop, sports ground, entertainment venue
  • You want an industrial building that is recognised at a glance - warehouse, depot, where orange is part of the company's look
  • Visibility is a factor - orange is one of the most easily spotted colours, even in poor weather
  • You want a distinctive look - and do not mind your neighbours turning their heads

Orange in architecture - rare, and that is exactly why it is special

Orange corrugated sheet is not a mass-market product - anthracite, white and tile red are far more popular. But that is precisely its advantage: an orange building is remembered by everyone. You do not have to explain anything - whoever sees it once will remember it.

Among our customers, business owners choose it most often - car washes, builders' merchants, sports halls. It also makes commercial sense: eye-catching, radiating positive energy, and free roadside advertising.

On homes it is rarer, but not unheard of. In Mediterranean regions, ochre and terracotta shades have a centuries-old tradition, and RAL 2000 is the modern, stronger version of that family.

What is worth knowing about orange

Heat build-up in the sun - surprisingly favourable

Orange is a mid-light colour that reflects about half of the solar radiation. On a hot summer day the surface heats to 55-63 °C - considerably less than anthracite (65-75 °C) or brown (63-72 °C). If heat build-up is a factor, orange is a surprisingly good choice compared with the dark colours.

Fading - worth knowing in advance

We will be honest: orange belongs to the vivid colours and after 10-15 years - especially on the south side - it will noticeably soften. The vivid orange gradually turns into a warmer, more yellow shade.

But this is not a disaster. The fading is uniform, taking place evenly across the whole surface. Many owners say the "mature" orange looks more natural than the original brightness.

Good to know: Fading does not mean the sheet is in a bad state. The protective layer still protects the metal just as before - only the shade of the colour changes, not the durability of the sheet.

Which colours should you pair orange with?

Orange + anthracite grey - the strong classic

One of the strongest pairings. The anthracite background highlights the energy of the orange while framing it. Very popular at workshops, car washes and sports buildings - for good reason.

Orange + white - cheerful, fresh effect

With a white façade, an orange roof gives a fresh, energetic appearance. The white backdrop makes the orange even brighter. Fast-food outlets, gyms and youth facilities often pick this combination.

Orange + black - bold contrast

A strong, industrial look - gives real character to car workshops and mechanics' shops. On a large surface it can be oppressive, so it is better to use orange as an accent.

Orange only as an accent - the most common solution

Most of our customers do not clad the whole building in orange, but use it as an accent: a gable, an entrance frame, a logo backdrop. This is the safest approach, because orange has a huge impact even on a small area - the building's base colour can stay neutral.

Local building code (HÉSZ) - definitely check this

To be straight about it: orange is one of the riskiest colours from a building-code point of view. Where a "traditional" or "fitting" roof colour is prescribed, vivid orange generally does not get through. In listed, landscape-protected and village-character zones it is almost certainly not permitted.

In industrial and commercial areas things are better - the regulations there are usually more permissive about roof colour.

Our request: Before you order an orange sheet, get written confirmation from the local chief architect or clerk that this colour is permitted on the given plot. With vivid colours, a verbal promise is not enough - always ask for it in writing. You can save yourself a lot of trouble this way.

Installation notes

Thermal expansion - favourable

Thanks to orange's moderate heat build-up, expansion is also less of an issue. On a 6-metre sheet, expect around 4-4.5 mm of movement - the usual fixing handles this without trouble.

Dirt

On an orange surface, dust and grime show up moderately - less than on white, more than on a dark colour. A wash once a year is worth doing to keep it smart.

Managing fading

If one side of the building gets more sun, it is worth cleaning it every 3-5 years so that surface dirt does not exaggerate the tone difference between sides.

Accessories

RAL 2000 flashing and bargeboard are available to order, but not from stock - delivery can take longer. For gutters, anthracite or white is the proven pairing.

How does the orange sheet age?

Orange is the most dynamically changing colour over time - worth knowing in advance.

0-7 years

The orange tone stays virtually unchanged - bright and energetic, just as when it went up.

7-12 years

Mainly on the south side, the colour starts to soften - turning into a warmer, more yellow shade. Most owners do not mind, and many say it now "shouts" less and feels more natural.

12-20 years

Fading is obvious to the eye, but the building stays coherent in itself. The orange character remains - it does not turn yellow or brown, just a more restrained orange.

If you ever need to replace a sheet, matching the tone on an orange surface is one of the hardest tasks. It is worth ordering a few spare sheets with the original order and storing them in similar sunlight to the ones on the roof - so they will match years later.
